Strengthening Fleet with Airbus and Boeing
With this latest purchase, Air India’s total Airbus order reaches 350 aircraft, comprising 40 A350s and 210 A320 Family models. The airline has also partnered with Airbus’ Flight Hour Services-Component (FHS-C) program for its A350 fleet, ensuring high operational reliability through advanced engineering support and strategically located stock in Delhi.
Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, emphasized the airline’s global growth strategy:
“India’s passenger growth is outpacing global trends, and with improving infrastructure, these additional aircraft will help us achieve our vision of becoming a world-class airline.”
Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, welcomed the order:
“We are delighted Air India has reaffirmed its confidence in Airbus. This order strengthens our commitment to supporting the Vihaan.AI transformation plan under Tata’s leadership.”
Fleet Expansion Focused on Efficiency and Sustainability
Currently, Air India anticipates the delivery of 344 Airbus aircraft, including six A350s already in service. The A350, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, supports key international routes such as Delhi-London and Delhi-New York, providing superior fuel efficiency and enhanced passenger comfort.
